Fees and Medicare Rebates

With a valid Mental Health Plan referral from your GP, the fees are:

Registered Psychologist
$225 - $101.55 = $123.45 gap (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm)
$250 - $101.55 = $148.45 gap (5pm or later Mon-Fri or 9am-5pm Saturday)

Clinical Psychologist 
$275 - $149.05 = $125.95 gap, (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm)
$300 - $149.05 = $150.95 gap (5pm or later Mon-Fri or 9am-5pm Saturday)

All fees are for a consultation of 50 mins.

Medicare rebates are available for eligible appointments for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year.

Appointments are conducted securely by video from the comfort of your home or another private location. All you need is a computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection. We'll send you a secure link before your appointment.

No. You can book an appointment directly without a referral.

If you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan referral from your GP or a referral from a psychiatrist, you can claim Medicare rebates for up to 10 psychology sessions each calendar year, which can be processed for you by the practice.

If your extras cover includes psychology, you may be able to claim a rebate through your private health insurer. Please check with your health fund to confirm your level of cover. For each psychology session, you may claim either a Medicare rebate or a private health insurance rebate, but not both.

Research has consistently shown that telehealth psychology is as effective as face-to-face therapy for many common mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression and stress.

Many people also appreciate the convenience, privacy and flexibility of attending appointments from home.

Big Changes Psychology provides telehealth psychology services to adults throughout Australia for the conditions and difficulties included on our What We Help With page.

Standard appointments are 50 minutes in duration.

Yes. Your privacy is important to us. Information shared during therapy is confidential, except where disclosure is required or authorised by law (e.g. your file is subpoenaed by a court), or where there are serious concerns about your safety or the safety of another person. Your psychologist is also required under Medicare to report back to your referring practitioner (GP or Psychiatrist).

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. Late cancellation and non-attendance fees apply in accordance with our cancellation policy, which is 50% of the consultation fee, if less than 24 hours notice is provided.

Big Changes Psychology is a private practice providing psychology services to individuals who are either self-funding their treatment or accessing Medicare rebates through a referral from their GP or psychiatrist. We also welcome clients using eligible private health insurance benefits.

We do not provide services related to TAC, WorkCover or Victims of Crime.

We do not undertake medico-legal work, including court reports, expert witness reports, independent medical examinations (IMEs), or other legal assessments.

We do not provide psychological services for the Australian Defence Force, police, emergency services, correctional services, firearm licensing, the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), or other employment, licensing, or government agency requirements.
