Benefits of completing a Pre-Therapy Assessment
Provides a structured understanding of your current concerns. Gives your psychologist valuable information before your first appointment. Allows therapy to begin in a more informed and focused way. Supports personalised treatment planning. Makes more efficient use of your therapy sessions.
Every new therapy client completes a Pre-Therapy Assessment before their first appointment.
Using carefully selected evidence-based questionnaires, the assessment provides your psychologist with valuable information about your current concerns before therapy begins. This allows more of your first session to focus on understanding your experiences, answering your questions and developing a personalised treatment plan.
Many people have a clear idea of what's contributing to their difficulties, while others are less certain. Either way, the Pre-Therapy Assessment helps identify important patterns and provides a clearer understanding of your experiences, creating a stronger foundation for therapy.
The Pre-Therapy Assessment is included as part of our approach to therapy for all new clients. There is no additional cost.
Pre-Therapy Assessment
Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting.
Your first appointment is about understanding your experiences and developing a plan for moving forward.
Because your psychologist will have already reviewed your Pre-Therapy Assessment, less time is spent gathering background information and more time can be devoted to discussing your concerns, your assessment findings and your goals for therapy.
Your first appointment will typically include:
Exploring what has brought you to therapy
Discussing your Pre-Therapy Assessment findings
Clarifying your goals
Identifying your strengths and supports
Developing an evidence-based treatment plan
You'll also have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and better understand the therapeutic process.
Therapy is collaborative, practical and guided by current psychological research, helping you develop skills and strategies to support your wellbeing during therapy and beyond.
Your therapy plan isn't rigid. It evolves as your needs, priorities and progress change, while providing a structured framework to guide your care.
Individual Therapy
All therapy sessions are delivered securely via video telehealth, allowing you to access experienced psychologists from the comfort, convenience and privacy of your own home—or wherever you feel most comfortable.
Telehealth also removes travel time and makes it easier to access consistent care, wherever you are in Australia. Research has shown that secure video-based therapy is as effective as face-to-face therapy for many common mental health concerns.¹
